It was a dead-even start not quite halfway through the opening game of the crosstown Sandusky Bay Conference matchup Thursday night between Perkins and St. Mary Central Catholic.

But with the first game tied at 10, the Lady Pirates (12-3, 8-2) went on a 15-0 run to win in a rout and rolled from there in the next two games, 25-16, 25-13.

Lauren Yontz was 39 of 39 setting with 19 assists and 18 of 18 serving with four aces and six digs for Perkins, while Natalie Sabo was 21 of 23 hitting with 10 kills and 9 of 9 serving with three aces and seven digs.

"I thought it was definitely a team effort," Perkins coach Beth Sage said. "Teamwork was they key."

Also for Perkins, Mallory Mullins was 19 of 19 setting with four assists and four digs and Jill Bahnsen was 13 of 16 hitting with five kills and 13 of 13 serving.

Emily Ketterer added 19 of 19 hitting with nine kills, 12 of 15 serving with two aces and seven blocks.

For St. Mary (4-10, 2-8), Kathleen Phillips was 20 of 24 hitting with nine kills, seven blocks and five digs while Claire Christman was 14 of 15 hitting with seven kills, three blocks and eight digs with 11 of 11 serving and two aces.

"We started off great then fell apart mid-game," SMCC coach Julie Myers said. "We have a hard time getting over that 10-to-12 point hump historically, and when they made a push we couldn't counteract."

Also for SMCC, Cate Murphy was 11 of 11 hitting with two kills, five blocks, 10 blocks and 72 of 75 setting with 13 assists and Kim Lewis was 6 of 6 serving with 10 digs.

Edison 3, Port Clinton 1

At Port Clinton, it was the Edison Lady Chargers rebounding from a loss to Huron with a four-game win over Port Clinton, 25-9, 25-18, 23-25, 25-15.

For Edison (10-4, 7-3), Emily Stewart had 15 kills, 12 digs and six points while Whitney Smith had 17 points, 16 assists, nine digs, six kills and five aces.

Cami Shine had seven kills, seven points, two aces and 17 digs, Amanda Blodgett had 11 points, eight kills and four blocks and Brittany Moyer had 13 assists and six points.

For Port Clinton (1-14, 0-10), Nicole Smith had 12 assists while Becca Day had four digs and three kills and Kayla Collins added four digs.

Huron 3, Clyde 0

At Huron, the Lady Tigers remained perfect in the SBC with a three-game sweep of Clyde, 25-16, 25-17, 25-15.

Kelly Lehrer was 95 of 95 setting with 40 assists and 16 of 16 serving for Huron (11-3, 10-0) while Jesse Miedema was 26 of 30 hitting with 19 kills and five blocks and Taryn Graham was 24 of 28 hitting with eight kills and 21 digs.

Also for Huron, Devin Koenig was 19 of 21 hitting with seven kills, Hannah Figgins was 10 of 10 serving and Melissa Moberg had 25 digs.

Margaretta 3, Oak Harbor 0

At Oak Harbor, the Lady Polar Bears won in a three-game sweep over Oak Harbor, 25-16, 25-15, 25-17.

Brittany Morris led Margaretta with nine kills, eight digs, and 15 of 16 serving with two aces while Jessica Meyer had 11 kills and six blocks.

Mandy Dauch was 91 of 91 setting with 30 assists while Emily Scheufler had eight kills, Haylee Strause had 17 digs and Gabby Nasonti was 6 of 6 serving.
