CARROLL TWP.

One man is dead after two trucks collided Tuesday morning on Ohio 2, just west of Humphrey Road in Carroll Twp.

Both trucks were heading west on Ohio 2 when the second truck rear-ended the first, an Aunt Millie’s bread truck.

The second truck then veered across the eastbound lane of Ohio 2, landed in a ditch and burst into flames according to witnesses at the scene.

“All I seen was a ball of flame, the whole truck — there were quite a few people up there trying to help," witness Dan Hanes of Townville, Pa. said.

Bystanders were unable to reach the driver because of the fire and intense heat.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner.

The bread truck driver was treated for minor injuries.

Ohio 2 was shut down for several hours.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol, Ottawa County Sheriff, Carroll Township police and fire departments, the coroner, Ottawa County Emergency Management Agency and Ohio Department of Transportation were at the scene.
