SANDUSKY

Day after day, fighter pilot Tom Moe's North Vietnamese guards beat him up as they held him in prison in Hanoi, trying to force him to "confess" to being a war criminal.

Other American pilots shot down during bombing raids over North Vietnam during the 1960s endured similar treatment.

The prisoners relied upon each other's encouragement and help, Moe told a crowd of about 50 standing on a rooftop of a condominium on East Water Street during a rally for John McCain.
