The Erie County Care Facility has always been an important asset to the community and to the county.
We must realize this facility cannot depend solely on Medicare and Medicaid for survival in view of the fact both have a bureaucratic reputation of red tape and foot-dragging. Of course with the government continuously cutting subsidies, this in itself is a detriment.
It is imperative the citizens of this area band together, despite hardships incurred with the unstable economy, to fully support this vital institution.
Hats off to Nancy McKeen, members of the commission and private individuals who have been so instrumental in the preservation of what is presently home to many and could someday become a safe and secure haven for your own loved ones.
How fortunate to be a part of a close-knit compassionate community.
