Area growers are praying for a soaking rain to ensure this fall's harvest is bountiful.
Dan Bergman, owner Bergman Orchards in Lakeside-Marblehead, said a rain in early August and his drip irrigation system shielded the farm from the dry weather. But he said farms to the south are suffering.
"We're doing OK, but we are desperate for some precipitation," said Bill Gammie, owner of Quarry Hill Orchards in Berlin Heights.
