A Sandusky excavation company seems to be digging itself deeper into the hole with safety officials.

Speer Bros., 3812 Old Railroad Road, was fined $28,000 for a willful violation of U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations.

Speer Bros. and other area companies have racked up quite a tab in fines for violating safety standards, according to OSHA inspectors.
