I am writing this letter at the encoragement of the Obama campaign in an e-mail just sent to me. Obama's e-mail asks us, his presumed supporters, to "simply share your story -- the most powerful voice is your own." Alongside this letter that I am to type is the Obama campaign's carefully written text that I am to use as I tell "my own story" in "my voice." It spells out what I am to say "in my own words," of course, about investing in tomorrow, enacting a windfall tax on Big Oil, and other grievances with the same big, bad oil companies.
Are Obama's followers so weak minded and vacuous that they have to be told what to say and when to say it? Does this strike anyone as manipulative and elitist? Barack Obama is not the one we have been waiting for. And before we all get too worked up about how big a deal it is to have 200,000 Germans cheering for you, remember that Hitler had many more Germans than that cheering for him.
