PORTAGE TWP.

A passenger on a motorcycle that crashed off of Ohio 2 on Aug. 3 has died from the injuries he suffered.

The Sandusky post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said they were notified today that Neal L. McCollum, 50, Clarkston, Mich., died at 1:10 p.m. Sunday.

Both McCollum and the driver, Barbara Haney, 38, of Waterford, Mich., sustained serious injuries after they were thrown from a 1990 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic motorcycle.

The crash occurred at about 1:25 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Ohio 2, just west of the northbound Ohio 53 on ramp and just east of Port Clinton.

Haney lost control of the bike when she encountered the gravel and grass median after drifting off the road, troopers said. She then struck a guardrail, throwing both riders to the ground.

The motorcyclists were taken by medical helicopter to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.

The crash remains under investigation at this time.
