Not too long ago Odell L. Thurman played in packed NFL stadiums on autumn Sunday afternoons as a starting linebacker for the Cincinnati Bengals.

Thursday afternoon in a small Erie County courtroom, far from the TV cameras and with a couple of reporters in attendance, Thurman pleaded not guilty to a felonious assault charge during his arraignment in Erie County Common Pleas Court.

Thurman, who is free on $20,000 bond, is accused of a punching a 19-year-old North Royalton man in the face and breaking his jaw May 27 at Kalahari Waterpark Resort, according to the Erie County Sheriff's office. An argument over a spot in line prompted the punch.
