The demolition of the historic Steuk Farm Market began today after the building was deemed unsafe.
An adjoining barn that served as a restaurant will avoid the chopping block.
The Steuk family ran the farm market, orchard and winery until 1995, Sandusky resident Bill Steuk said. Steuk's grandparents, Bill and Margaret, originally operated wineries downtown and opened the fruit market on Fremont Avenue during the Prohibition era.
