PERKINS TWP.

Erie County commissioners will have to figure out how to respond to requests for more employees from two county departments even as they try to cope with the latest forecast that the county is heading toward a budget deficit.

Peter Daniel, the county’s finance director, told the commissioners this week that the requests for additional workers from the sheriff’s office and public defender’s office would add $500,000 to $600,000 a year to the county’s costs.
