Reese;

Once one has gained enough information to make an overall correct decision as to the "who, what, where, when and why" of a problem (in this particular case..."financialism of our governence") then one can begin to be active in combating it. It's certainly is well and proper to continue "digging deeper" into the world of knowledge in any particular arena however....there is a wealth of data in many important and/or enjoyable directions. In essence...don't get too wrapped up in the abyss of politics, unless you so desire, but with the wisdom of truth you have gleaned...you are now able to do something constructive with it. Fight back! (smile)

Two presidential campaigns ago I became active for the very first time by throwing my hat into the fray. I joined up with my local Presidential campaign headquartersby merely stopping in and saying, What can I do?" In the course of my tenure I met some nice, interesting and well-informed people. You need NOT be politically savy but only sincere in your concerns and efforts. They at the local level really appreciate any help they recieve from making telephone calls, to picking up doghnuts to passing out literature to just about anything you can think of. For me it was a new awakening with personal rewards of gratification that I indeed could and more importantly WAS making a difference. I "re-joined" during the next Presidential campaign (2008) with some degree of self-confidence, a fire in my belly and made over 800 telephone calls and re-wrote the telephone solicitation (which was accpeted by the heirarchy of the local h.q.). Posy election I was asked to be  interviewed by the Toledo Blade as to my personal efforts and the outcomes they produced. "That" was too cool! (smile) And to think a hayseed from north-central Ohio could, with just a bit of effort, make that kind of an impact. {Do ya think I'm going to "get involved" during this election cycle?} {Ummmm....."YES"}

Our nation and it's people are being viciously attackedby the "Elite". This has been an ongoing threat throughout mankind's history and now...it's our turn. It's our turn to either bury our heads in the sand or turn and try to run away or..do the right thing and join those already combating the forces of evil (greed).

"We" need your help.

Thank you for your generous comments as to my postings. I feel they are only one additional small part I, as a Patriot of Freedom MUST do (read my previous post about "getting involved"). "Effort of any kind is never wasted." "To do less is to cheat yourself and everyone else." The ripple affect is real ya' know! (smile)

I hope to see you too keep posting. They in and of themselves will also "make a difference". However...please do read my previous post and KNOW..."you can do more". More for your country and....more for yourself.

Thanks again,

PB&J,

I have also volunteered to help with various types of political campaigns, mostly for local candidates and issues, but a couple of times for presidential campaigns, including in 2008.  It is a rewarding experience, and it gives one the opportunity to talk to a lot of local folks and listen to their concerns.  I mostly did door to door campaign material distribution.  Sometimes people will invite you in to talk to them.  Everyone was, at least, polite in receiving what you had to give them.

I have a demanding full time job with irregular work hours and includes a lot of travel, so, I can't commit a lot of time to volunteering, but I will do it and fit it in where I can.  I know that whatever time you have to help is greatly appreciated.  It does give you a sense of really being part of the democratic process...no matter what side of an issue you are on or what party you are working for/ and I have volunteered for Democrats and Republicans.  Once I retire, I hope to get more involved.

I would also encourage anyone who has a little time, to contact the local people who are organizing the campaigns in Erie County and offer to help!

The other thing that I would encourage would be for people to do some research on what is really at stake in this election.

Look at what the candidates have done in the past compared to what they are telling you they will do for you.  Look at the positions they have taken in the past, compared to the positions they are taking today.

Ask yourself, who is this person that is asking for my vote?  What are your personal values that  match the values of the candidates?  What are the strengths of each candidate?  How well do the candidates understand the struggle of the middle class and the poor (the two groups that make up most of us), the unemployed, the working poor, the uninsured/underinsured?

What do you think about "welfare"?  Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, cash assistance, housing assistance, utility bill assistance, Veterans benefits, bank bailouts, auto bailouts, start-up funding for businesses, student loan assistance, education funding to states, infrastructure development funding to states, etc., are sometimes lumped into this same category of things that need to be drastically cut or eliminated.  Do we need to get rid of all of it?   Does the power to fund and regulate all these things need to be transferred to the states?   Should all of these services and supports that Americans currently enjoy be turned over to the private sector and become for profit businesses?

Do mega wealthy corporations sitting on trillions of dollars need more help with taxes? Do we need to curb the tax benefits available to companies who take their companies oversees or take their money outside of the U.S.  Do we need to give tax breaks to businesses that bring their business back to the U.S.? Who is supporting the growth of the American economy and the financial status of  American workers. Where do you draw the line?

The middle class in America is the driver of the American economy through its spending habits.  If the middle class isn't making enough money, spending is reduced and the economy flounders.  If Americans can't find jobs that will pay their bills, the economy flounders.  If our educational system does not educate and train our kids to be able to do the work required for decent  paying jobs, the middle class will flounder. If the middle class flounders, they will join the growing number of low-income people and there will be no hope for the low-income people to join the middle class.  How many minumum wage jobs would you have to have at the same time to be able to afford to pay your current basic living expenses?

No matter how much money you make, you have one vote.  We are all equal in that respect.  Corporations don't get to vote, but they are spending a lot of money to try to buy your vote.  Spend your one vote carefully.

Save the taxpayers some money:

Just send the teleprompter and a cardboard cut out of Pres. Obama grinning from ear-to-ear.

According to another area newspaper, this is by invitation only stop,

7/4/12 Morning Journal, "Event organizers were planning details on Tuesday. It appears the president will visit at an invitation-only event, and it was unclear how there might be public participation.  Despite a lack of details, Sandusky officials said they are proud to host Obama. “I’m excited that he’s going to be here,” Ex-Officio Mayor John Hamilton said. “I offered to give him a key to the city,” he added, but he was not invited to the event. “I’m not a Democrat, I’m an independent,” Hamilton said."

This event is for party & union hacks, hey the rest of us can pay the tab for the security and lose of county employees being sent home with pay Thursday afternoon, the court house was ordered closed for the event.  Four years ago McCain, who wasn't a great candidate at least did a public event in the park open to anyone willing to stand in line.  Seems like Obama is the one catering to the upper 1% of Erie County....

SWAMP FOX

A.   four years ago McCain was NOT the POTUS.

B,  300 people who have volunteered for Mr. Obama have tickets to be inside the ring around the Gazebo... that's a controllable crowd who can be closely watched - since Ohio has conceal carry and since TPisserz have been known to show up with Second Amendment guns strapped to their legs.

C.  Hundreds of others can gather on the streets and sidewalks and hear the speech or carry their signs.

D. Closing the courthouse.... remember the Texas Schoolbook Depository?

Finally... read all the violent, scathing, namecalling posts on here and then ask why security has to be so stringent.

C'mon Swamp Fox, everybody knows the headshot came from the grassy knoll.

Swamp Fox

office cat;

1.) All major presidential candidates are given secret service protection although much smaller than for the president.  With less agents the perimeter was larger for McCain..

2.)Of the 300 people the majority are party officials and union hacks. The White House is calling this bus tour official government business which means we the taxpayers are paying for it, yet only the political top 1% of Erie County will have any access.  The mayor of Sandusky wasn't invited, he is an independent.

3.) The hundreds who can gather outside the area will be two blocks away, hope they have really good hearing.

4.) Closing the court house and giving county employees a free 1/2 day off, how about the private business that front Washington Row?

When you bring up the "violent, scathing, name calling "  I disagree with the name calling but it is  minor league compared to what was said about President Bush and still is by many supporters of the present president..

Reese; You did it again! Fantastic post (pointing out the total Obstructionist position of the Radical Republican position). Their policies are two fold; (1) get Obama out office, (2) get Obama out of office so they more easily and quickly can get back to their prime focus. That prime focus is to complete their U.S. and world domination of democracy (New World Order). They envision some form of a fiefdom with peasants, Dukes, Earls, Kings and the one "Man at the Top". (That will be one sad dog-eat-dog system and the little dogs, us, will simply be snacks.)

If necessary...I'll sharpen my pitchfork tines, practice setting booby traps but before hand...get politically active so I don't have to resort to the former.

I would LOVE to be able to go down there and see and speak to this guy.....just for 10 min.  And be honest people, if you had ten minutes to talk to Obama would that give you enough time to get your tongue straight before you could even speak????   I wonder.  You are all on here yelling and staying things about how you won't bother....blah, blah, blah, but if you could, wouldn't you really LOVE it if you could spend 10 minutes up close to this guy?  I would LOVE IT........and no I do not mean with a gun, that wouldn't take 10 min.

If I was scheduled, for whatever reason, to hear Him speak in 90 degree heat I'd pay 50 dollars if I didn't have to be present.  Say what you want "President" or Professional Campaign Speaker.  He is campaigning and I will show no respect for Him and His constant attacks on America and our Constitution.  Maybe better said, Lack of respect for the Constitution.  The man is a habitial liar, lies don't exsist in the Islam Faith so I shouldn't call Him a liar,  and if you go to listen to Him speaking you I wouldn't drink the Kool Aid if it is offered to You.

EZOB

Sarah Tonin,

You totally lack any "Common Sense."  This will be My last Post directed at You.  I'll give you One more time to not attack me but what I have stood for My entire life.  I have been stopped by the Police many times.  The officer generally greets me with something like, How do you do Sir, may I see your drivers license."  If it's at night I always have my window down and make sure they can see my hands.  I reply, "It's in my wallet which is in my pocket or on the dash.  I am going to get it out. "SIR."  My point is that He has already addressed me in a positive way and by the tone of His voice.

I have lived in my house for close to 40 years and I am one of the best neighbors anyone could have living around them.  I don't think you'd fit to well in our neighborhood, we are all different and naturally live different lives.  We are all very different around here in one way or another.  I don't think you'd fit well not having us adhere to your way of thinking.

I for one am proud and honored the President of the United States is visiting Sandusky. Shame on the nay sayers, what ever happened to patriotism and supporting our president? Being so unpatriotic is un-American. Get over yourselves and your biased political views, everyone here does not agree with them. It's always the same ole same ole when you post and some comments are borderline racist. The President has faced the same problems with conservatives in Washington, they want to keep what they have and don't want the middle class or people living in dire poverty to ever get ahead. I do not see a problem having a little Egalitarianism in this country. If everyone were afforded the same opportunities in this country we would probably have less crime and  a more productive society.

EZOB

Patroitizm????   I guess a lot of you really don't know what Michelle and the President think about our Flag.  Why don't one of You Party goers just ask Him?  Michelle said, "All this for a stupid Flag."  The Preidents Response, "YEP"   The Marines were forced to attend his speach at either Camp Legune or Camp Pendleton.  You don't respect our Flag or our Military a You can all go to H$#@!!  and all this with His Crotch salutes.  Why don't you attack Him on His unpatriotic views He continues to support?

mikel

it is funny as hel that you fools rip romney for his days at bain capital and outsourcing jobs, which i disagree with, but there was no taxpayer dollars involved unlike gm building plants in china and chrysler being bought by a foreign company.  yeah!! just where i wanted MY tax dollars to go.  but, i guess obumbles has to pay back the chinese for all they have done for him!

reese

Mikel,

Do you really believe that no taxpayers dollars were spent or lost when Bain Capital outsourced jobs and devasted American companies? People lost their jobs and their benefits, including their retirements which were picked up by the American government.  Whose dollars do you think paid for that?

Darkhorse

You need to read the whole story on the Bain Capital buyouts. If if wasn't for Bain Capital those companies would have closed two years earlier and those jobs and benefits lost. The outsourceing was done to try and save what was left of the American jobs by keeping those plants open as long as they could. No investment firm will buy a plant to lose money, they invest to turn them around and make money. That is what they do. That is what should have happened to GM. Let them go banckrupt and sell off all their holdings, which would have been picked up by other buyers, and continue leaner and more in tune with the rest of the population. They would still have been building cars but they would have saved millions by purchaseing from those companys that bought those holdings. Less overpaid union workers would have made them leaner and more profitable. Obama bailed them out to pay back the unions who helped get him elected. GM is still in trouble and will continue in trouble until the break up and get real. Too big to fail is just a Democrat way of saying we need to help them so they can vote for me. By the way, when all this supposed bad things were happening at Bain, Mitt was no longer a part of it.

mikel

to all of my fans on here i wish you a happy independence day and will take great strides to enjoy one of our last days of freedom from total gov't control!

July 4th History   Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence?

Five lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army; another
had two sons captured.

Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or hardships of the
Revolutionary War.

They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor.

What kind of men were they?

              Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists.
                Eleven were merchants,
Nine were farmers and large plantation owners; men of means, well
educated, but they signed the Declaration of Independence knowing
full well that the penalty would be death if they were captured.

Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and trader, saw his ships
swept from the seas by the British Navy. He sold his home and                 properties to pay his debts, and died in rags.

Thomas McKeam was so hounded by the British that he was forced
to move his family almost constantly. He served in the Congress with-
out pay, and his family was kept in hiding. His possessions were taken
from him, and poverty was his reward.

Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Dillery, Hall, Clymer, Walton,
              Gwinnett, Heyward, Ruttledge, and Middleton.

At the battle of Yorktown, Thomas Nelson, Jr., noted that the British
General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson home for his headquarters.
He quietly urged General George Washington to open fire.  The home was
              destroyed, and Nelson died bankrupt.

Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed. The enemy jailed
his wife, and she died within a few months.

John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was dying.  Their 13
children fled for their lives. His fields and his gristmill were laid to waste.
For more than a year he lived in forests and caves, returning home to find
his wife dead and his children vanished.

So, take a few minutes while enjoying your 4th of July holiday and
silently thank these patriots. It's not much to ask for the price they paid.

              Remember: freedom is never free!

I hope you will show your support by sending this to as many people as
you can, please. It's time we get the word out that patriotism
is NOT a sin, and the Fourth of July has more to it than beer, picnics,
              and baseball games.
