By firing Kim Nuesse, Matt Kline has done what was easiest for himself, not what was best for the city.
Maybe Kline thought that firing Nuesse would make him seem decisive and right.Or maybe he thought that he needed to resolve the issue before the Commissioners had time to think and decide that another way to solve the problem might be to fire Matt Kline.
Repeated accusations of dishonesty, which have never been documented, have cost a woman her job and the city a bundle because disgruntled employees didn't like taking orders from a woman.
n $21,000 in wages for an employee who hasn't been allowed to do her job.
n Who knows how much to settle the whole mess in court.
Some may say that I have no right to an opinion in this matter because I don't live in Sandusky any more, but what happens to one woman happens to all women. Kim Nuesse was my police chief too.
Much as I hate to see the city I love strapped with the financial burden of Matt Kline'sdecisions, it sometimes takes the judicial system to safeguard our rights.
We can only hope Kim Nuesse finds in court what she never had during this investigation, a jury of her peers -- 12 angry women.
