TOWNSEND TWP.

A Vickery man died early Sunday after his vehicle apparently rolled over and crashed into a creek in Townsend Township.

At about 7:30 a.m. Sunday, state troopers responded to report of a roll-over crash on Sandusky County Road 268, just south of Ohio 412.

When they arrived they found a vehicle containing the body of Michael Randles, 50, of the 5000 block of County Road 293 near Vickery.

Randles was pronounced dead at the scene.

The initial investigation did not determine the exact time of death, but authorities believe he may have died several hours before he was found.

Troopers say Randles appeared to have been driving north on County Road 268 in his 1991 Ford Club Wagon when he lost control of the vehicle, went off the left side of the road and struck a bridge embankment, then landed in a creek area next to the bridge.

Trooper Ivan Nunez of the Fremont Post said the road contains no particular pitfalls for drivers.

"It's not a dangerous road, or anything like that," he said.

Alcohol is suspected as playing a role in the accident, Nunez said.

Troopers are waiting on toxicology results.
