HURON

Two students were suspended and arrested last week after both were caught trying to bring deadly weapons into Shawnee School, according to Huron police reports.

A 12-year-old girl was able to sneak a steak knife with a 31/2-inch blade past a metal detector on April 28 by concealing the knife inside her boot, the report said. Police learned the girl was in possession of the weapon from another student, police said. The girl told the other student she had hidden the knife inside one of the boots she was wearing, the report said.

Police discovered the weapon after asking the girl to remove her boots, according to the report. The girl told police she brought the weapon to school because she wanted to be arrested, the report said.
