(UPDATED with video) A white Grand Am rolled over into a ditch north of Bell Avenue at about 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon, seriously injuring the driver.

Ryan Kaufman, who lives in the neighborhood and saw the crash, found the driver incapacitated and laying in water in the upside down vehicle.

Kaufman reached through the broken glass and held the man's head out of the water until police and fire crews arrived.

Responders attempted to call in a medical helicopter, but it couldn't respond due to bad weather. The man was instead taken to Firelands Regional Medical Center.

His name has not yet been released.

@Thomtom

The driver was traveling on Bell Avenue until he veered into a ditch on the north side of the road. So both.

The car is in the creek bed on the north side of Bell Ave. at the intersection of Bell Ave. and Ferry Lane.

Oh, and I hope the driver is alright, regardless of geography!!  Geez!!!

Good job Ryan. Not many people would get "dirty or wet" jumping in and doing something like this.

Hope the driver comes out ok also.

Why is it every time there is an accident you automatically assume it involves texting. Turns out Mr Denhart had medical issues that contributed to the accident. Quit jumping to conclusions without knowing the facts.
