PORT CLINTON

Local municipal operations could be drastically reduced if the visitors bureau is granted a bigger share of the bed tax.

During an Ottawa CountyCommissioners meeting Tuesday, Ottawa County Visitors Bureau Executive Director Larry Fletcher proposed a change in the bed tax that would give the bureau more money for marketing; however, the change would decrease the amount municipalities receive.

Fletcher said increased marketing and promotion of the county could be a benefit for everyone.
