HURON

The step-by-step process of reopening Erie MetroPark's Huron River Greenway continues.

Stephen Dice, director-secretary of Erie MetroParks, said Wednesday he hopes to reopen the northernmost stretch of the controversial walking trail before spring ends June 21.

The section, a little more than one mile long, connects DuPont Marsh State Nature Preserve to Franklin Flats.

Letters continue to go out to landowners who live along the trail, seeking those who will sell or donate land.

The response generally has been favorable, Dice said during Wednesday's meeting of the park board.
