Wakeman man surrenders after hostage standoff

A 28 year-old man with a history of domestic violence held his fiance hostage in a Wakeman home for two hours Monday evening before surrendering, police said. Gerald Hunter was inside the Cooper Street home armed with a 20 gauge shotgun. Wakeman police and Huron County sheriff's deputies evacuated nearby homes.

  A 28 year-old man with a history of domestic violence held his fiance hostage in a Wakeman home for two hours Monday evening before surrendering, police said.

 

Gerald Hunter was inside the Cooper Street home armed with a 20 gauge shotgun. Wakeman police and Huron County sheriff's deputies evacuated nearby homes.

Hunter freed the woman and surrendered at about 9:15 p.m. after talking on a phone with the woman's mother, p[olice said.
