A new planet is in the works, with children at the center of its universe.

Planet Snoopy, the latest attraction at Cedar Point, is scheduled to debut when the park opens May 10.

“Our focus is really on families this year,” said spokesman Bryan Edwards during a tour of the area. “Typically, when you hear Cedar Point, you think big, tall, fast roller coasters ... but as a parent, nothing is more fun than riding with your son or daughter on the rides and seeing their excitement.”

The new child’s area, the fourth child-friendly spot at the park, is specially designed for little ones who may have outgrown the tamer train rides or merry-go-rounds yet aren’t quite tall enough for the big coasters.

“It’s the next stepping stone in the thrill experience, so to speak,” Edwards said.
