Are casino jobs worth the problems?
Casinos in Ohio will bring 5,000 jobs to Ohio.
It will also bring 50,000 gambling addicts. (This ratio is based on Oregon’s experience.)
Gambling addiction leads to loss of savings, loss of spouses, loss of jobs, bankruptcy, homelessness, crime (theft and embezzlement to support the habit), and in some cases suicide.
The average gambling addict is $80,000 in debt.
Is this what Ohio wishes for? Maybe we should sue our neighboring states for sending their contributors back to us to try to cure their problems.
Governors and legislators do not have time to watch Dr. Phil and Oprah, featuring live victims of this compulsion.
Google “Gambling Addiction” and then decide if a pound of employment is worth a ton of problems.
Any profit from Ohio casinos would be “filthy lucre.”
