NORWALK

The presidential election is still many months away, but Huron County election officials are already scrambling to keep the polls open.

One of the big challenges facing officials is the need to inspect the county's 33 polling locations to assess their handicap accessibility and make changes to comply with the law.

"We're actually doing those (examinations) right now. We've got some of them done," said Tom Gerrity, deputy director of the Huron County Board of Elections.
