SANDUSKY

The Vermilion teenager who called in a false bomb threat at Sandusky High School was sentenced to 16 months behind bars.

Nineteen-year-old Derek Parker appeared before Judge Tygh Tone in Erie County Common Pleas Court.

"I now realize what I did was really wrong and how stupid it was," Parker said. "I'm going to take this in as a learning experience as much as I can. I realize life is too short to be wasting it on stuff like this."

Parker was ordered to spend 16 months in prison for a felony conviction of inducing panic. His attorney, Beverly Hancock, asked for lenience.
