GYPSUM

U.S. Gypsum announced it is shutting down its paper mill in Ottawa County on May 12, leaving about 60 employees jobless.

Plant manager Bill St. Leger described the action as an "idling" and said the company hopes to reopen the plant when the U.S. housing market improves. The mill produces paper used in gypsum wallboard for construction.
