Is the reality of what is happening in our area escaping the minds of our local leaders and city fathers?

I have to question whether it is simply greed or stupidity that is allowing yet another shopping plaza to be built on the corner of Strub and Milan roads, in a locale so close to an already oversaturated market of mega-stores, fast foods and a consistent duplication of retail outlets.

It is to assume that those devising these plans feel it will create more jobs when in reality, it will eventually lead to more store closings and empty, decaying buildings.

My hope is the tourists will help to support these idiotic ventures. For certain our local residents will not be expected to do so with the exodus of higher paying jobs and many of our young people migrating to other cities and states where the grass appears to be greener.

We no longer can turn a blind eye to the realization, our economy is distressed, high paying jobs are certainly at a premium, prices are sky-rocketing and in no way can we continue to support the mad dreams of a few.
