Unplug satellite, go local

When I saw in Friday's Register that WLEC had finally gotten rid of the all-sports format and was back to playing good music again, I was happy. I soon discovered that the music now being played is nothing more than a lousy satellite service from ABC. I saw this on the internet.

I don't understand why BAS Broadcasting loves satellite programming. I know they've already screwed up several stations in Bellevue and Fremont. With this kind of programming, too many stations are being turned into nothing more than electronic jukeboxes.

I like the music being played now on WLEC. This kind of music should have been played years ago during the "American Music Classics" debacle.

I was in radio for many years, including 14 years at WLEC and I know that with the music being played now, it can be done locally. You don't need a freakin' satellite service. People want local programming, with local personalities and voices they know.

Come on BAS, dump the satellite service. You can do it locally. At least playing better music is a step in the right direction in getting WLEC back to the great local radio station it once was.
