Police: Boy, 4, likely was left unsupervised

Perkins police have released new details surrounding the death of 4-year-old Zechariah Schrader.

The boy, from Fostoria, drowned Friday night in a pool at Comfort Inn on Milan Road in Perkins Township. According to the police report, Zechariah likely was left unsupervised for a short period of time while he was playing with his siblings in the pool.

He was found by other swimmers at the bottom of the 4-foot section of the swimming pool. A registered nurse, Paula Maroon, and Dr. Eric Mast, of Huron, were performing CPR when the police arrived. Zechariah was unconscious, was not breathing and had no pulse when police arrived.
