Just read the latest on the Greenway "project."According to the Register's story the taxpayers are going to shell out hundreds of thousands of dollars of taxpayers' (our money) to landowners to try and get the Greenway open again. And some landowners just don't want to sell at any price.
Where is the accountability? When is Erie MetroParks going to be held to the standards that most other segments of county government are held to? It's taxpayers' money so let us vote on whether we want to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on something that, to be honest, not a whole lot of people use. I travel Mason Road on a regular basis and always look to see how many cars are actually parked at the Greenway. Usually none and some times one or two.
With times hard and money scarce, why is MetroParks allowed to spend taxpayer money with no accountability?
