PERKINS TWP.

It's Bill Dwelle's time to shine.

The Perkins Township trustee will speak to the 20/20 group about joint dispatch between Perkins and the city of Sandusky. The meeting, open to all local residents, will be at noon Tuesday at Perkins Restaurant on Milan Road.

So far, the group's main issue has been joint dispatch. About a month ago, 20/20 invited Sandusky police Chief Kim Nuesse and Perkins police Chief Tim McClung to express their views on joint dispatch. Both chiefs support such a plan, which would offer immediate savings of about $500,000.

But the meeting prompted Dwelle and trustee Jeff Ferrell to create a Perkins Township spokesperson policy, which essentially forbids McClung from speaking publicly about joint dispatch.

Now Dwelle will have his chance to present his opinion on the issue.
