An unidentified woman tricked a Kroger employee into paying her $870 last week.

On Feb. 15, the woman forged a Kroger manager's signature, authorizing a refund on two money orders, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff's office.

The woman told the employee at the store, 2200 block of E. Harbor Road, that she wanted to file a complaint against an employee who made a racist comment, deputies said. She also said that she was issued some money orders that were not refunded.
