A 57-year-old man was flown by medical helicopter to University of Toledo Medical Center after he crashed his car into a utility pole Thursday, troopers said.

Michael Ward of Clyde waslisted in fair condition Friday afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Ward was traveling west onLimerick Road at about 5:45 p.m. when his 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser slid off the snow-covered road, struck a pole, overturned and landed on its tires, said Trooper Joe Wentworth of the Fremont post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Ward suffered "incapacitating" injuries after the crash, troopers said.

Wentworth said alcohol was suspected, but Ward has not been cited for the crash yet.

It was dark at the time of the accident, and troopers said Ward was not wearing a seat belt.

The PT Cruiser had "severe" damage, troopers said.
