Amy Schwerer is a popular person today.
Many anxiously anticipate her arrival or lament her absence on Valentine's Day as she delivers flowers for Cleveland Road Greenhouse.
She delivered nearly 20 bouquets, planters, balloons and other arrangements Wednesday to area residents whose loved ones wanted to get a jumpstart on the holiday. She anticipates twice as many deliveries today.
Schwerer said the best part of her job is meeting new people and seeing their reaction, which can be varied.
"I'm a people person, and I enjoy getting out," she said. "(Wednesday) morning there was this little old lady, and she said, 'Oh, I'm so embarrassed. It's just not like me to not be dressed. But you know what, this is my house.' I said, 'Yes it is, and now you got a beautiful bouquet of flowers.'"
Another woman, Rosemary Hart, also received a Valentine arrangement Wednesday. When asked if she knew who they were from, she had a pretty good guess.
