What started as a potential after-school fight could have turned much worse Monday, law enforcement officials said.

A Margaretta Junior High student told classmates on Friday via instant messenger that he planned to bring a gun to school Monday and shoot two of his classmates, according to an Erie County Sheriff's report.

The seventh-grader had been having problems with two of his classmates and was supposed to fight them after school on Friday, the report said.
