CARROLL TWP.

An Oak Harbor man was struck and killed Tuesday morning along S. Toussaint Road after he tried to rescue his dog that was struck by another car.

Douglas Juergens, 51, died from injuries after the car struck him about 6:32 a.m., according to the Sandusky Post of the State Highway Patrol.

The driver apparently did not see Juergens because it was dark out, Sgt. Eric Short said.
