WASHINGTON

The War of 1812 has brought Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur and the Bush administration together.

U.S. Rep. Kaptur, D-Toledo, announced Tuesday the National Park Service has agreed to put a $5.1 million request in its budget to repair the monument column at the Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial at Put-in-Bay.President Bush incorporated the agency's recommendation in the budget he sent to Congress.

Kaptur's office is confident Congress will approve the request -- if it passes a budget at all.
