Two charged with trying to spring pit bull from pound

A pit bull held at the Erie County Dog Pound nearly saw freedom Monday night.

Two people have been arrested after sheriff's deputies said they were caught trying to steal the 70 pound dog.

The break-in happened at 10:58 p.m. Monday. The duo cut a lock on the back gate and tried to get into the pound, said Barb Knapp, Erie County dog warden.
