Margaretta Township firefighters responded to a trailer fire at Edgewater Estates in Vickery on Friday morning.

Firefighters recieved a call about the fire just after 7 a.m. Townsend and Groton township fire departments assisted at the scene.

One woman, Vindettia Younger, 60, was taken by ambulance to Firelands Regional Medical Center and later transported by medical helicopter to a hospital in Toledo.

Family members at the scene said Younger came out of the house with burns and they had to prevent her from going back in after her dog.

The dog did not survive the fire.

Taxpayer

I believe this mobile home park is in White's Landing which is Margaretta Twp. fire jurisdiction for fire protection.  White's Landing has a Vickery mailing address because half of it is in Erie County and the other half is in Sandusky County.  The person who drew up the county line must have wanted to trade for more shoreline for Erie County.  There is some crazy and rich history on how the counties were divided up.  Erie was all part of Huron County long ago and a few old land plats and deeds are located in the court house in Norwalk.  Because White's Landing is so far away, the response time could be 30 minutes.  If a trailer is in full conflagration so far away, not much of a trailer will be left.  I am glad Margaretta Fire made it to render aid to this woman and were able to save some of the property.  Good job MFD!!

They must have gotten there pretty quick .. they say fire travels as fast as you can walk in a mobile home...

hey sandusky register, why was that comment removed after taxpayer's comment? it had something to do with another erie county news source. a face book web page i believe. i can understand competition to sanduskyregister.com but i feel that competition is good. i saw the comment but still wonder why the sandusky register removed the comment? i figure that it is a matter of time before i get banned from posting comments like so many others who did not follow along like the good sheep. am i right or wrong?

chongo

drive though there, that whole trailer park is a death trap waiting to happen.

Look at the intelligence level of those removing the posts.  I really don't think it is anyone at the top removing a lot of these posts.  Offensive is a very dirty word to a lot of people, they are thin-skinned, so-to-speak.  What we consider a joke they take very seriously.  This will be removed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The woman (my grandmother) is doing okay, she got life flighted and she will be in the hospital for awhile. Thank god my boyfriend and I got over there when we did or things could have been even more devastating and she would have been way worse that what she is now. Please keep her and our family in your prayers.

Exxcellent

Amanda, Is there an account anywhere that people can donate if they wish?
