Chris Ketchum breathed heavily, puffing plumes of vapor into the cold air.
The young athlete was red-faced but ready to embrace a snow-covered hill.
Chris is not an Olympic snowboarder or skier.

Chris and his friends joined area children as snow enveloped Edison Park in Milan about mid-January. The snow and some large hills made the popular winter sport possible.
Ketchum said the conditions were perfect since other sledders had packed down the snow, making it a smooth, fast ride.
"Just barrel down the hill. Don't mess around," Chris said. "Get straight to the point."
