Mansfield pilot David Eckstein had seven hours of flight time with the Cessna 340, but had "marginal" experience overall, according to the Sandusky post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol

Eckstein, who crashed his twin-engine propeller plane Saturday, killing himself, his wife and another Mansfield couple, had about 1,160 hours of flight time including 252 hours with multi-engine aircraft, said patrol Sgt. Eric Wlodarsky.
