Many of our wonderful residents turned out in great style to send off our local National Guard unit. Company D, 1-148 Infantry Regiment left for training at Fort Hood, Texas, with a final destination of Kuwait on Jan. 5. American Legion Post 83 was proud to host the deployment party as hundreds of family members and friends gathered for their heartfelt good-byes. Kroger, Flowerama, Pat Catans and Loris Printing provided donations and discounts. K-96 promoted the event. And, most importantly, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Perkins Township Police and Fire Departments, all the service organizations, motorcycle clubs and all the wonderful residents who lined Ohio 4 made sure the troops were sent through a sea of waving flags!

If anyone has pictures of this event, especially from the crowds gathered along Ohio 4, we would appreciate having copies for the unit's memory book. Please contact me at the American Legion.
