Maj. Rich Ramsey, formerly of Huron, is leading a transition team in Iraq with the goal of helping the Iraqi people successfully protect and govern their own country. Ramsey reports on the status of the effort and his own personal experience as a soldier in Iraq.
This week Ramsey details his day.
4:30 a.m.: Alarm goes off. Feel tired, but happy to have one more day to try to make a difference here.
5 a.m.: Phone center to call Cassie and the girls. There is a calling plan available that allows us to call home relatively inexpensively. Most of us are able to talk to our families a few times a week. Thea and Kyla are very excited to get to Grandma and Grandpa Ramsey's house in Huron for a few days before Christmas and then to Grandma Kathy's house in Italy.
