SANDUSKY

A city ordinance on the books since 2004 will be strictly enforced by police starting Jan. 1.

The law against repeat false alarms at area homes and businesses was not enforced this year by police due to staffing issues. Starting in 2008, residents will be given two "freebies." After that any false alarms to which police respond will take a bit out of locals' pockets. Penalties will also be imposed for false 911 calls.
