Everything from a church to a condo decked out for holiday viewing through Monday
There's no place like a candlelit home for the holidays.
The Old House Guild of Sandusky will host its 28th Annual Christmas Candlelight Tour of Homes from 6-9 p.m. Sunday and Monday.
The warm glow of candles will welcome visitors as they travel from home to home as part of what has become a holiday tradition.
This year five private homes will be featured along with the Old Calvary Church, The Follett House Museum and the Eleutheros Cooke House.
The Trolley will run between the locations on both nights.
From historic architecture to friendly conversation to Christmas cheer, the tour has something for people of all ages.
The home of Mila and Troy Bouts, 519 Wayne St., will be on the tour for the first time though Mila has been a tour volunteer for many years.
"It's just an opportunity to go around and see the unique old homes," she said.
Mary and Lino Venerucci will have at least eight nativity scenes in their home, 315 50th St., for the tour.
"For me, Christ is Christmas," Mary Venerucci said. A floral designer whose work can be found at Admiral's Daughter in downtown Sandusky, Venerucci was putting the finishing touches on her decorations this week.
So was Diane Ackerman at the Old Calvary Church, 701 First St.
Though she and her husband, Gary, have had their Adams Street home on the Candlelight tour, this is the first year for the church.
"It's a great start to the holiday," she said.
A word of advice to first-time tour-goers -- wear shoes that are easily taken on and off. Shoes must be removed in all homes on the tours.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Admiral's Daughter, Bailey's Country Gift Shoppe, Barnes Nursery in Huron, the Cooke House, Corso's Flower and Garden Center, Crider Quality Jewelers and Flowerama. Tickets can also be purchased at the Follett House Museum both nights of the tour.
