Listen for the whoop. That's the message Perkins school officials extended to parents Tuesday after an elementary student was diagnosed with pertussis, also known as whooping cough.
"The elementary child is no longer infectious," said interim superintendent Dennis Rectenwald. "She's going to be fine, but we want to make certain the community is aware that we did have a case in our district and it is contagious."
