Suspension rates are dropping due to alternative ways of discipline.
According to the Ohio Department of Education and several school officials, school districts including Bellevue, Norwalk Catholic Schools, Sandusky, Port Clinton and Danbury have witnessed either slight or significant drops in out-of-school suspension rates.
"This is an amazing feat," said Todd Gearny, who has a son in Sandusky Schools. "When my oldest son was in school, he said classes were missing a lot of kids because everyone was out and suspended."
