PERKINS TWP.

Never mind.  Bishop Clifton T. Jones Sr. will remain aconvicted sex offender after a motion to withdraw his 11-year-old plea was retracted at his request.

Jones, 51, filed a motion in Huron County Common Pleas Court Oct. 5 asking to withdraw his 1996 guilty plea to a charge of attempted corruption of a minor. Jones entered an Alford plea, meaning he pleaded guilty while maintaining his innocence.

He was convicted of the sex offense after a September 1995 incident in which a 15-year-old girl told police she had consensual oral sex with the pastor in a Norwalk hotel room.
