Students bundled up in sweatshirts and scarves sipped hot cocoa as they prepared to get to work on a chilly Saturday morning as part of Make a Difference Day.

Make a Difference Day is an annual event that takes place nationwide on the fourth Saturday of October. Millions of people across the country participate in the event each year.

This year more than 38 different groups and individuals volunteered at 19 locations through the Volunteer Center of Erie County as part of the local Make a Difference Day efforts.
