Area aerospace leaders had Perkins firefighters tied up with training at a unique site this week.
Almost every township firefighter participated in rope-related exercises inside the Spacecraft Propulsion Research (B-2) Facility at NASA Plum Brook Station.
Firefighters rappelled down into the facility’s vacuum and spray chambers — drops ranging from 55 feet to 130 feet — to simulate rescue missions.
The training will prepare firefighters to save people stuck at extreme highs or lows, such as roller coasters, cell phone or water towers, caves and wells.
