Ohio's political influence in the U.S. Congress could be hanging in the balance this November if voters pick the wrong person to fill the congressional seat left vacant by the death of U.S. Rep. Paul Gillmor, R-Tiffin.
Gillmor died accidentally in September after falling down the stairs of his Arlington, Va., townhouse.
More than a week after his death, Gov. Ted Strickland ordered a special election for Dec. 11 across the 5th District to pick Gillmor's successor. The 5th District includes Sandusky and Seneca counties and parts of Huron County.
