PORT CLINTON

A 60-year-old Danbury Township man faces 52 charges related to drug use and the rape of a 13-year-old girl.

Dale "Bud" Notestine, 500 block of N. Lake Pine Drive in Marblehead, tops the list of indictments handed down in Ottawa County. He was charged with multiple felony drug and sex offenses involving accusations that he gave drugs to, provided pornographic material to and engaged in sexual activity with a 13-year-old girl in June.

Notestine faces 15 counts each of rape, unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and corrupting another with drugs. He also is charged with two counts of disseminating matter harmful to a juvenile, one count each of possession of cocaine, crack cocaine, marijuana, oxycodone and one count of drug paraphernalia.

All of the offenses are alleged to have taken place during a two-week period in June.

Late last week, Danbury Township police officers searched Notestine's residence and seized cocaine, crack cocaine, marijuana, oxycodone and drug paraphernalia.

Notestine was taken into custody and is being held without bond at the Ottawa County jail.

"When a perpetrator has access to a child over time, these types of numbers are not uncommon," said Ottawa County Prosecutor Mark Mulligan. "Fortunately, we don't run across a case like this too often."

Notestine is expected to make his initial appearance today in Ottawa County Common Pleas Court.

An indictment is a formal charge and does not denote guilt or innocence.
